Properly skilled welders with up-to-date training will have great job prospects. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts welding will continue to be a secure vocation, pointing to many regions reporting job shortages. Basic welding skills are the same across industries; the Labor Bureau’s job forecast indicated that welders can easily shift from one industry to another, depending on where they are needed most.
The AMERICAN WELDING SOCIETY sets the standards for all the skills that will be taught in this program: Oxyacetylene, stick (SMAW), wire feed (GMAW, FCAW), tungsten (TIG), plasma cutting along with classroom welding theory will be taught. These skills will enable students to be ready for various welding jobs or enable students to continue their education in a post-secondary training program. Concurrent enrollment is available in the course. Participation in the SkillsUSA youth organization will be an integral part of this course.
