This course prepares students for a variety of careers in the field of digital media and animation. Within an environment geared toward creativity and teamwork, students will develop skills in 3D graphics, digital painting, illustration, graphic design, 2D and 3D animation, audio, and video. Students will also learn project development skills such as project management, script writing, storyboarding, design skills, project evaluation, and critiquing skills.
ART 1080 Photoshop and Digital Media: The course focus will be on using Adobe Photoshop as a tool to produce CG imagery for video production, photo illustration, digital publishing and animation. Adobe Illustrator, Premiere, and Autodesk Maya will be introduced.
ART 1630 Computer Graphics Essentials: Introduction to basic techniques and theories used in creating images with a computer. Exploring the fundamentals of modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, animation, and compositing while applying principles of storytelling and design.
3D Graphics: Students will use 3D graphics software to produce 3D models. This course will introduce students to 2D and 3D modeling, the creation and application of textures, mapping, lighting, camera techniques, and rendering of 3D models.
Digital Media 2: Gain a deeper knowledge of concepts such as graphics, animation, audio and video production and create a professional level portfolio. Work toward the Adobe ACA software industry certifications on Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, and Premiere Pro. Learn to create animation, video and audio projects using digital media applications. Animation principles, script writing, storyboarding, and project management techniques are used to help students in the production process.
3D Animation: Use 3D graphics software to produce 3D animations. Introduce students to 2D and 3D, animation planning, storyboard development, and the animation process.
Digital Sculpting: This course provides students with the skills required to create digital 3D sculptures. Unlike polygonal modeling as is done in 3D Graphics, students work with digital clay and sculpting tools. Students will also learn digital painting techniques to add color to their sculptures.
