Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
This course provides clinical experience in long-term hospital, & immunization clinical settings, and is an excellent introduction to basic nursing skills. Set yourself up to meet pre-requisites for medical programs in college. Learn anatomy, physiology, nutrition, medical terminology, first aide, and CPR.
This semester course provides education and skills training necessary to prepares individuals to take the state written and skills (hands-on) certification exam upon successful course completion. Students will be ready to perform basic nursing (patient care) skills to meet the needs of patients in hospitals or long-term care facilities under the training and supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
The course requires attendance for all classroom instruction as well as 100 clinical hours outside of the classroom. These clinical hours are performed during weekday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning hours at a long-term care center and/or a hospital. Course fees and individual transportation to clinicals are required. Five concurrent enrollment college credits are available for taking Medical Terminology and First Aid/CPR certification. Participation in the HOSA youth organization will be an integral part of this course.
