Course Description    


A great choice for those students interested in construction related careers, including construction management. Students will construct an entire house while participating in all phases of home construction.

First year learning activities include laying out the lot, install footings/foundations, trusses, stairways and windows. The students will install all framing, sheetrock and taping, cement flat work, finish carpentry, build sub-floors, install aluminum cornice and siding, shingle application, frame roof, learn the proper use of tools, read blueprints, learn to follow safety instructions, and understand how to do masonry.

Second Year: Students will further develop their first year skills and be able to pursue their areas of interest in more detail. Students will build a house and learn how to be a Job Superintendent, project manager. Skills with math, job scheduling, and all areas of project management will be improved. Participation in the SkillsUSA youth organization will be an integral part of this course.
